I am sick again ... :(

Doctor said that the maximum dose allowed for azathioprine was not able to contain my lupus from flaring up. So she has to prescribe monthly injection of cyclophosphamide for me. There is a lot of side-effects to this new drug, such as feeling nausea, vomiting, loss of hair, bladder inflammation and in the worst case bladder cancer and permanently unable to conceive. There is no other choice as my immune system has to be suppress further to prevent the lupus from getting worse. I must drink lots and lots of water the day before, during the injection and the day after to minimise the side-effects. The injection will take 1 whole day so I had to be hospitalised.

I had my first 1/2 dose of cyclophosphamide (cyclo) 2 days ago. Was feeling quite ok on that day, other than having a very low BP (80/50) and feeling very tired. Father and mother came to fetch me from the hospital. It was the next day the horrible feeling of being sick came over me.

I woke up and immediate felt giddy and fainted. Was feeling very very tired, sleepy and felt that there is no strength left in my body. Got no appetite for food also. But I had to force myself to eat otherwise it will be worst. Feeling nausea whenever I see food, hated this feeling cos' I like to eat.

So the whole of yesterday was spent sleeping and sleeping.

Today, I went back office, still very weak and no appetite. And the first dose is only 1/2 dose of the medicine, I can't imagine what will happen in the coming 6 months which I had to go for full dose. Aiyo ...
