My promotion after 22 years

I had been promoted in April this year and I think I deserved it.  Even though many think the chances of me getting promoted is slim because there are strong contenders, I am thankful my current bosses and CFO still push through my promotion.  I am grateful that many colleagues felt that I deserved this promotion and sent me many congratulatory messages.  After working for 22 years in my company, I realised I have got a lot of recognition from people on the ground, but the old leaders didn't see them.  Only the current bosses and leaders in the company I am seconded to appreciate my effort.  I will continue to work hard and work efficiently in this company to show them their support is worthwhile.

The cloud project didn't kick off due to the cessation of the company I am seconded to.  However, there are many enhancements and projects related to the cessation during this period and I had managed to finish all of these.  It had been a very busy period. I am also glad that the company thinks highly of me and even employ staff to assist me for these projects.

There are still many tasks to do till the last day.  The next major work will be to ensure that the company closes its main activity in a dignified manner.  Systems and network will be kept at optimal level to ensure everything run smoothly that day.  After that will be digital archiving and setting up a Business Intelligence system to help the company monitor the transition.  These are all major projects which I hope I can perform well.

Life is not about work so there are also other activities.  I will be performing this month with our sister orchestra from Hong Kong.  It will be an exciting concert and I am practicing hard for this.  I am also taking care of my health and had been reiki myself frequently. I am also reiki my mum to help her relax.

A eventful 1st half of 2023

New Year, Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Puasa, Good Friday, Vesak Day, Hari Raya Haji.  All these festivals came back with full force participation and visitings after post Covid era.

Things has been hectic in the first half.  I took over a few major applications after my colleague left.  A challenging task to understand the whole business operation and how the applications work.  But it was fulfilling, especially after I completed a few enhancements.

I also got involved with Cloud technologies and started explore moving these to the Cloud.  However, this was put to a halt after garment annouced the closure date of company I am seconded to.  Time flies, I have been seconded to this company for 4 years already.  Hopefully, the move to Cloud will still go ahead if the applications remain to be in use till the company closes. Then maybe I can stay on till the last day and be the last person to shutdown the servers and network.

I also took up a self healing / healing by hand training in June.  It is call Reiki, and the idea is to channel the energy in the surrounding to my body through my palms and let my body uses the energy to heal itself.  I can also help to heal others this way.  Will be attending the advance version of Reiki in Sept and hopefully will learn more.

Life still goes on ....

A late update for the year

3/4 of the year gone, and this is the first update.

Times flies.  We have finally opened up fully and life returns to normal. The workforce returns to office amid new arrangement with WFH and WFO running together.  The traffic jams on the causeway are also back, together with the jams during the peak hours.

Many projects starting to run in full force, even though there is still shortage of manpower and resources.  

I had completed decommission all the software, hardware and network devices for 2 outdated system. Set up a new system to digitize my company's tender and quotation documents and will be doing another one for the contracts' documents.  Now I am busy with helping my company to rollout their finance and procurement applications on cloud. 

Other than work, I had another performance with KHCO in August at the Victoria Concert Hall.  This is the 2nd public performance after Covid-19 and after we have opened up.  We had practiced really hard and we were so glad all the tickets have been sold out. The audience are really hungry for public performances.  I am also helping out with BBCO on their performance in Oct, now trying to find time to practice amid all the workload. ha ha...

With so many activities, no wonder time just flies pass. After Oct, I am going to have a good rest...

Another round of DCH and Mirena reinsertion

Today, I did another round of Dilatation and curettage, hysteroscopy(DCH) and change of Mirena.  This round is to check whether the endometrial hyperplasia without atypia, which had remission when the 2nd round of DCH is conducted, have return back or not.

Hopefully the result will come back as negative.  If it is positive, then I have to be optimistic and hope the doctors can advise the cure for it.

Before the ops, I went to Guangyin temple to pray. I tolong Guangyin to bless me the ops will be smooth with no complication and doctors can cure my illness if they found anything.

I like to think I am being blessed.

First public performance since the COVID-19 started

I had my first public performance yesterday since the COVID-19 started.  It has been more than 2 years since my last public performance.

Very worried and excited.

Worried because it has been so long since I perform in public and I am not sure whether my skills are still up to it and whether I will get stage fright during the concert.

Excited because I am going to perform in a world class concert hall, the Esplanade Concert Hall, top 5 concert hall in the world. Even though it is not the first time performing there, but I am still very excited to be able to perform in such a great concert hall.

Luckily everything went smoothly.  Didn't make much mistake during the actual performance and the whole orchestra did very well. 

Hopefully, as we open up slowly and return to a new normal, I will get more chances to perform to the public again.

Also looking forward to performing overseas again.

I am fully vaccinated!!!

 Finally, my TraceTogether app shows I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of 16 Sept. 2 weeks after my 2nd dose of Pifzer BioNTech vaccine.

My first dose was taken on 9 July and I am supposed to go for the 2nd one 1 month later.  But I kena shingles just before my scheduled 2nd dose and I had to postpone it.  The shingles didn't recover fully, however the 2nd dose cannot be delay for too long, so I went and get my 2nd dose on 2 Sep.

Not sure whether the shingles was caused by the vaccine or because I am too stress up with work and my immune system went down.  

Doesn't matter now.  If it comes again, I just have to see doctor and tahan the pain.  Hopefully it won't come back.

Yeah, hopefully we can return to normal live few months down the road and not be too bother by the COVID-19.

I am okay ... :)

Last month I had a procedure to check on my uterus for hyperplasia without atypical cells after having IUD (Mirena) inserted for more than 9 months.  The result was reviewed yesterday during my follow up after the procedure.  

AND 

doctor says the cells are no longer found in my uterus... Hooray, the IUD helps and I am cleared from the hyperplasia without atypical cells.  Which means chances of me getting cancer because of this cells are minimise.  A new IUD was inserted during the procedure so that the atypical cells will not appear again.  Yeah..

BUT

I still have to monitor my condition and check for abnormal bleeding because the IUD may cause problem to my uterus or drop out.  I need to take care of my health even though I am cleared this time round. 

PAIN

My backache is still occurring and has now spread to the groin area.  It seems this is not because of the IUD or mensus cramps.  Seems like my nerves and spine is acting up again.  Lucky doctor says there is no issue doing massage or physio with the IUD inside.

Let's hope my backache will go away soon.
